The Trick or Treat match was introduced at NVR Wrestling's October show hosted in Universal during their Halloween Horror Fights event. The match is contested similarly to a ladder match, only the four briefcases are hoisted up by extensions to the ring posts. There are 4 unmarked briefcases, with three of them being "Treat" cases and one being a "Trick" case. The three "Treat" cases each contain a contract for a specific title match, being either the NVR World Championship, NVR R!ZE Championship, or a Miscellaneous Third Championship and it can be cashed in at anytime. These three briefcases are then regularly defended until the holder is able to cash them in. In the case that a man wins the Women's Championship, he can either transfer it to a female of his choosing, OR convert it to a R!ZE Championship opportunity, but must wait until the original R!ZE Championship Opportunity Briefcase holder cashes in their contract. The final briefcase, or "Trick", makes the holder ineligible for World Title contentions until the current at the time champion is defeated and a new champion was crowned. The match was originally going to pit 4 individuals against each other, so that each individual could walk away with a briefcase, but a last minute fifth addition was added to the match, and Caleb Jackson made it officially 5+ person match type.
