BIOGRAPHY - Ever feel like the universe is taking a shit on you? Like everything you do happens to be the wrong move and everything you try blows up in your face?
Such has been Adrianna Wilde’s experience in wrestling.
Adrianna’s involvement in wrestling began as a tribute to her father, who passed in her early teenage years. She grew up watching wrestling with him, never being wholly invested in it but she was a daddy’s girl. It wasn’t until she was in college at UC Davis, studying Forensic Science that she felt an urge to pursue a career in wrestling, spurred on by an advertisement for Chris Strike’s (then called) Star Hill Academy. Despite being far from a natural athlete, she was accepted into the first class of Star Hill Academy. She struggled, but pressed on despite the extremely taxing mental and physical nature of the training, even when she was ‘loaned out’ to Adrien Specter for his own training facility for further training. After some time, she was due to make her debut in SCW’s Queen of Sin rumble. Unfortunately, an incident before the match involving the wrong promo reel being played-showing an outtake of her having a panic attack over her impending debut as opposed to the final product-threw her so badly that she struggled to get her wits about her afterward. Compounded with some very unfortunate incidents in her personal life, Adri suffered a number of false starts in her career, ultimately deciding to opt to maintain a role as a trainer for Chris Strike’s wrestling school.
She remained there for five years, eventually becoming Strike’s head trainer in the process. Eventually, she found herself in a wrestling ring again-pressed into a match at Pro Wrestling RAIDEN by Chris Strike, forcing her to face the anxiety issues she had at the idea of competing again. Despite her trepidation, she ultimately agreed to step away from her role as a trainer to become a full time competitor. As such, she moved to Japan to compete for YUGEN. Her run, thus far, has been incredibly successful-becoming the first EXceleration champion and a gaijin face of the company.
Well, until she broke Blaise Fader’s neck.
While accidental, the incident in which she injured Blaise took Adri’s head out of the game, leaving her traumatized and afraid to perform like she had before. Success turned to repeated failures, months of coming up short when it mattered took its toll9. By the time she had managed to pull herself back together, her personal life fell apart again. Another failed relationship, another downward spiral into the depression and anxiety that had dominated the majority of her life and she had pulled away from wrestling again in a last ditch effort to save herself from the self destructive habits that had formed over the years.
After a year of mental and physical rehab, Adrianna has finally pulled herself out of the depths to make another run at the greatness she had been chasing for so long yet often found herself denied of. Embittered at the toll wrestling has taken upon her, she’s found refuge in the only place that has offered her any comfort or comradery over the last few years-Wristlock Academy. Surrounded by like minded individuals, Adri’s found the confidence to take what she feels she’s owed-by any means necessary.
ENTRANCE MUSIC - “I Hope You Suffer” by AFI
ENTRANCE DESCRIPTION -The lights fade as “I Hope You Suffer” by AFI breaks over the PA system, the entry way illuminated only by white strobes that flash in time to the drum beat. By the time Danny Havoc’s vocal begins, Adrianna Wilde is striding out through the entrance way and down the ramp; her pace slow, bouncy as she shakes out her arms and loosens up-her focus on the ring as she leisurely moves. By the time the chorus hits, Adri’s climbed the steps and towards the center of the apron; her lanky form climbing the middle rope, leaning back against the top as she finally leers out the crowd-a sneer on her face as she gestures towards the crowd as she sings along to the chorus. It’s only when she’s satisfied with herself that she’s waving off the fans and allowing herself to roll backwards over the top rope and onto her feet, where she quickly claims a corner for herself as the music fades out.
