BIOGRAPHY - (As told by Abby) “So I’m a carpenter’s daughter. My mom was a carpenter, my dad was a carpenter. Rival businesses. They had a whole romeo & juliet thing which didn’t end the way the play goes, out popped me! As you’ll expect, I went to a woodshop and aced it. However, I didn’t want to go into the family business and get my hands callous that way. I loved the gym and originally I was going to be either a physical therapist helping people get back on their feet literally, or a personal trainer.
What actually happened was I got a job working at a country club originally as a golf-chefaur, but then I would drive around serving drinks to the groups who rented golf carts. It was great, you gotta keep your tips so I was earning a lot and I put it to lessons after this one evening.
So the evening went, we thought we had tickets to a concert, but it turned out we had tickets to a wrestling show. We had pre-drank so we thought it was some MMA show, it’ll be a good laugh. Turns out wrestling was pretty cool. The stars that came out, the action, we ended up being pretty vocal and had a good time. We were the only girl group at the event. The male wrestlers even gestured to us during a segment, it was a shot, but hey we booed him right back. Anyhoo, it was this women’s match that opened my eyes to the whole thing. These women, I’ll say it, out-performed the men on this show. In a world where the WNBA was thought of as meh, women’s soccer didn’t get...you get the point. These women showed in this realm, inside those ropes, anything was possible. I wanted to do what they did. At the time I didn’t say anything to my friends who were more interested in who stuffs their trunks and who didn’t. That’s what my money was going to. To make me a wrestler.
Now Ma’ & Pa’ Blake didn’t exactly react positively to me asking them “Hey, I want to put my body on the line each show” because they had a view I was going to put my brain to growing the business or something else. Lot of back and forth on that until they snapped into reality that it was my choice and I wasn’t going to stop. No matter how many bruises on my legs, no matter how long I winced waking up, I was going to do this. They literally turned into my two biggest supporters now and it makes me feel great getting to compete and watch it with them. Mom still covers her eyes when she sees me fly off the top ropes, but she supports me. So that’s my story from my humble beginnings in Colorado, moving to California to train in submission and lucha-libre, and starting off my career in wrestling. I’m yet to win any championship just yet, but that’ll change. Mark ma’words, that’ll change.
