Ice Cream Of Summer

INT. ICE CREAM BAR - MIAMI, FLORIDA - FRIDAY, 8TH AUGUST

Mimi’s hands hold two cups of ice cream. A cup of super caramel ice-cream for Manny and a cup of strawberry ice cream with reese’s pieces scattered on top for her. Mimi wore some shorts for this outing with a very long t-shirt that almost covers her shorts and some very beat up sneakers. Her hair was half-heartedly put in a ponytail to cope with the surprising heat, hence the ice cream too.

MIMI:
"Here you go, Button. Not sure why you didn’t want any Reese’s pieces. They’re amazing."

She says handing him both his cup of ice-cream but a little plastic spoon, a blue one for him and a teal one for herself.

MANNY:
"Well, m- I mean, chica, caramel ice-cream is best enjoyed by itself. Especially when it’s super caramel, and you have actual caramel mixed in with the ice-cream!"

He takes a spoonful and offers it to her.

MANNY:
"Want a taste?"

Mimi shakes her head as she didn’t want to take any from him and have him wind up with a spoonful less, and she loved strawberry above all else.

MIMI:
"No thank you, Chico. Strawberry is my favourite and I don’t cheat on strawberry with some caramel side piece."

Before giving him the Mimi smile and takes her first bite. The ice-cream just tastes her tongue when Mimi spies another patron coming into the parlour wearing a NVR Shirt for the upcoming show Song of the Summer.

MIMI:
(MUFFLED FROM THE ICE-CREAM)
"Woah!"

Mariano looks at her quizzically, eating his spoonful, then raises both hands.

MANNY:
"Whoa, slow down, mang, I ain’t catch that. What did you say?"

Mimi points to the fan’s shirt as he’s looking at the delightful chalkboard menus above the counter and then looks through the glass at what flavour to pick.

MIMI:
"He’s got a NVR Shirt on for the upcoming show I’m on, and Trixie’s on too. Speaking of which...!"

Mimi points to him with her spoon.

MIMI:
"If I win and Trixie wins and we have the second ever Smith bowl, for the NVR Women’s Championship...who’s side are you going to be on? Team Mimi or Team Trixie?"

Visibly put into a predicament, Mariano swallows his next spoonful to avoid choking, then breathing heavily, he raises a hand.

MANNY:
"Well, uh- I’d have to declare myself neutral, chica. I mean, you’re both family and I like you both but I love Tr-"

Realizing he’s just said something new, he stops dead in his tracks. Mimi narrows her eyes at him.

MIMI:
"You don’t think I can win….Button?"

As she slightly turns her head at him and puts him on the spot. Mariano shakes his head no.

MANNY:
"But that’s not what I said, chica! I never said you couldn’t win, did I? I also never said Trixie couldn’t win either. All I know is the fans are the certain winners!"

He smiles, feeling as if he’s being eaten by termites on the inside. Mimi gives him a closer, sterner look but then shrugs it off with her usual smirk.

MIMI:
"I guess you’re right. It would be history though if a Smith dethroned a Smith in a wrestling company. But there’s so many people I have to get through…."

Mimi says scooping up a lump of ice-cream.

MIMI:
"In one night…..in one match...."

And then she took a little moment before eating the bite on her spoon. Mariano nods.

MANNY:
"I hear you, chica. That’s what expects Tommy and I at Bad Company at the end of the month. Sixteen teams, two brackets, and all of it in two days. Three matches a night one after the other!"

He clenches a fist, however, as his features harden.

MANNY:
"But we’ve made history there before, we can certainly make it again. And so can you, mang. I hope it all ends with a huge Smith party - and one I will be very glad to attend!"

After this, he gives her his usual kindly smile.

MANNY:
"So make sure both of y’all get there, alright?"

MIMI:
"Well, Trixie definitely will. But I have four opponents to deal with to her one. One of them’s Daya Matias, my tag team partner, Button..."

She stirs her ice cream not as enthusiastic about facing her partner. Before Manny can get together a little inspirational speech for her, Mimi jabs her ice-cream with her spoon.

MIMI:
"But I guess it was bound to happen sometime. And it has been a while since I was Rebby Pro Dragonweight Champion. And who better to face Trixie than me?"

She says looking at Manny then with a half smirk.

MIMI:
"You can give me some tips on how to beat her since you did it way back at SAP."

Mariano makes a face.

MANNY:
"You would have me betray my partner, mang?"

MIMI:
"I’m just kidding with you. You wouldn’t betray anyone!."

He takes another spoonful, and after eating, he goes.

MANNY:
"Alright. I can try to help you one bit. Trixie now holds two belts, and she says I helped her a little through it. I can tell you what I did for her, mang."

MIMI:
"Button...Look.."

Mimi gets distracted by another new customer who’s got on the Bad Company T-Shirt.

MIMI:
"I wonder if he’s going to be supporting the American Mangs like me."

She takes another bite while being all inquisitive. Mariano slumps on his chair, speaking in a murmur.

MANNY:
"Not any added pressure at all, chica..."

But soon he goes back to normal.

MANNY:
"Anyway. What I did for Trixie was tell her to imagine something, or someone, she completely hates. Something that she could vent her frustrations on to. To pretend I was that thing she imagined standing in front of her, and to attack me like that.."

He rubs his cheek after that, grimacing in pain.

MANNY:
"She floored me after that, so at least it worked, mang. Heh."

Mimi ponders for a moment before scrunching up her nose.

MIMI:
"But I don’t hate anyone, Button. Maybe we need to think of something else for my Goku kick ass training session."

She gives him a nudge trying to get the dragon ball stuff he often tweeted about. Mariano laughs, and nods.

MANNY:
"Super Saiyan Mimi, mang. THAT I would like to see! Oh, and by the way.."

He reaches into his backpack, and takes out a set of jewel DVD cases, specifically a “Back To The Future” collection.

MANNY:
"Here you go, chica! Thank you for the loan."

MIMI:
"Me and Millie thank you."

She says revealing the collection was something she and her sister bought together. She happily takes them from Manny and just about fits them in Mimi’s rather beat up handbag she had since she was a school girl.

MIMI:
"Do you ever wonder what it would be like to have a flying DeLorean?..."

Mimi and Manny both ponder as they take a bite of their ice-cream as the scene comes to a close.
